The British Embassy Abidjan promotes bilateral relations between the UK and Côte d’Ivoire in the fields of security and prosperity underpinned by the UK’s values. The Embassy has a vacancy for a Political Officer

The job-holder will provide day-to-day monitoring of political developments in Côte d’Ivoire. To do this, the job-holder will need to liaise pro-actively with key contacts at all levels in Government, political parties and other relevant groups, within the context of the objectives set for the UK/Côte d’Ivoire bilateral relationship by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).

The appointment will be offered for an initial period of six months. Renewal will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a two-month probationary period.

Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate, including potentially in London and other British Embassies in Africa.

The closing date for applications is 4 June 2013. Regrettably only those candidates short-listed for interview will be contacted. Interviews will be conducted in June, with a view to the successful applicant commencing work in July 2013. 

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate that they meet the necessary requirements under Ivorian law to work in Côte d’Ivoire.
